SDG Move Participates in Providing Feedback on the Development of a Platform to Promote Public Participation in Policy Design by Thailand Policy Lab

April 27, 2023 – Ms. Pimnara Intaprasert, Assistant Director of Knowledge Management, Centre for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move), participated in the consultation process to develop a policy platform organized by the Thailand Policy Lab project, the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Office of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council (OHEC) on April 26-27, 2023 at the Sukosol Hotel.

The consultation process of Thailand Policy Lab this time aimed to obtain insights from government agencies and civil society organizations. In the roles of policy planners, policy implementers, and policy-affected people, they provided insights into the problems and obstacles in public policy design. The goal was to determine the direction of the development of the policy platform that will play a role in promoting public participation in public policy design to best meet the needs of users. The consultation process used the concept and tools of Design Thinking.

The platform for public participation aims to:

  • Enable the planning of work or national policies of the National Economic and Social Development Board to respond to the needs of the people and cope with future uncertainties more effectively.
  • Create features that support public participation that can be used by various ministries and local agencies.
  • Ultimately, play a key role in transforming Thailand’s public policy process to be truly people-centered.
