January 18, 2024 – Assistant Professor Chol Bunnag, Director of the Centre for SDGs Research and Support (SDG Move), joined the panel discussion “Industry – Academia – Government Panel Discussion” at the 2024 MIT Bangkok Symposium held at True Digital Park in Bangkok.
The MIT Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) organized the “2024 MIT Bangkok Symposium” as a regional conference in Thailand under the theme “Technologies & Policies for a Sustainable World”. The event invited senior executives, experts from various industries, investors, and academics to exchange knowledge and perspectives to promote collaboration between industry and academia, together with policymakers from the government, to urgently address sustainability issues in Southeast Asia.
At the event, Assistant Professor Chol Bunnag was invited to be one of the panelists on the topic “Industry – Academia – Government Panel Discussion” along with three other distinguished panelists:
- Dr. Elisabeth B. Reynolds – Former Special Assistant to the Provost for Manufacturing and Economic Development, former Executive Director of the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future and IPC, and Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT
- Mr. Natwut Amornvivat – Director of True Corporation Plc.
- Dr. Jiravat Vichit-Vadakan – Vice Chairman of Bangkok Bank
The panel discussion focused on the following key areas:
- The role of industry, academia, and government in promoting sustainable development
- The challenges and opportunities for collaboration between these three sectors
- The specific needs of Southeast Asia in terms of sustainable development
The 2024 MIT Bangkok Symposium was a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about the latest trends and developments in sustainable development, and to network with other stakeholders from across the region.
